Planning a Baby Shower
Posted on 22 August 2007
There is a new baby on the way and both mother and child deserve to be celebrated. They are also going to need a lot of new things in order to survive that first year! This is why we hold a baby shower in the mother’s honor. It is a time for loved ones to get together and celebrate life as well as to help the mother-to-be get all of those items that she will need for her newborn.
Planning a baby shower is going to be different for everyone depending on your relationship with the expectant mother. If you are her mother, then it is going to be slightly easier. The first thing to do is speak to the grandmother-to-be as well as the father’s mother in order to get a list of relatives that should be invited to the shower. If the baby shower is a surprise, then the father of the baby or close friend should provide a list of all friends to be invited. You will need names and addresses for everyone!
Now where will the shower be held? Are you ready to have all of these people in your home? Can you feed them and clean up after them? Can you afford to rent out a small hall and have the baby shower catered? This is a decision that should be based solely on your preferences as the hostess. This is your time and your money. No matter where the baby shower is held, the important thing is to celebrate the mother and child!
So, now we have a place to hold the baby shower, food decided, and the guest list. It is time to send out invitations and order favors. The invitations should include all of the information regarding date, time, and location of the baby shower as well as an RSVP phone number. It is also a good idea to include the information about where the mother-to-be is registered. This helps guests to purchase the items that the mother wants most. Baby shower favors are a wonderful way to memorialize the day. These favors are a way to thank guests for sharing in the special day and will be treasured forever.
Are you getting ready to plan a baby shower? Do you have any special tips for others that are planning a baby shower? Is it going to be a surprise? Where are you having it and why? Tell us all about it and share any great experiences you have had at baby showers in the past!
