Babies "R" Us announces new rewards program

On February 23, Babies "R" Us, a subsidiary of Toys "R" Us and one of the top providers of children's products in the nation, announced the launch of its new Very Important Baby (V.I.B.) rewards program. According to the company, those who enroll in the program will now be eligible to receive 10 percent added savings on essential baby items they purchase at the store.
The company says that the V.I.B. card, which will function like traditional debit cards, will allow parents to receive this added savings when they buy baby wipes, diapers, baby formula and other eligible items at Babies "R" Us stores across the United States.
"As a trusted advisor for new and expectant parents, Babies"R"Us understands that the cost of essentials can add up quickly during a baby's first year," Greg Ahearn, the chief marketing officer for Toys"R" Us' U.S. operations, said in a statement. "With the introduction of our new V.I.B. program, we're excited to offer a whole new way for mom and dad to save on their most frequent purchases for their baby when they need savings the most - from birth through toddler years."
The announcement could help many parents, who according to a survey cited by the company spend roughly $2,000 on essential baby items in the first year of the baby's life. Friends and relatives of new or expecting parents may want to note this high cost and choose to purchase gift baskets for special occasions accordingly.
For example, while baby Einstein gift can allow a child to learn and develop essential skills, baby diaper cakes may be a better purchasing option for parents who are looking for ways to save money while still providing for their newborn's needs.
