Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson welcome a healthy...and big baby girl!
Posted on 07 May 2012
Pop singer, fashion icon and designer, Jessica Simpson is finally a mom. The blonde bombshell gave birth on May 1 at the Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
"Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby girl, Maxwell Drew Johnson," Simpson wrote on her new website. "We are grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!"
The new mom and her fiance, Eric Johnson, an NFL player, cleverly announced they were going to be parents last year after Simpson dressed up in a mummy costume for Halloween and tweeted, "It's true. I'm going to be a mummy!" The couple have been dating since November 2010.
Maxwell Drew Johnson weighed in at a healthy nine pounds and 13 ounces. She was almost 22 inches long.
The world has eagerly awaited the birth of the little bundle of joy. Katy Perry was tweeting questions such as "Has Jessica Simpson had that baby yet? I'm getting anxious," and so was Chelsea Handler. The comedian also tweeted, "How has jessica simpson still not given birth to this baby? I'm getting frightened."
During the time the world was waiting, Simpson and her beau were getting ready for the new addition to their family. The mommy-to-be had a "Charlotte's Web" themed baby shower, where she received baby shower gifts from family and her celebrity friends, like Ellen Pompeo and Jessica Alba.
And, despite the fact she looked like she could give birth at any minute, the fashionista arrived at the star-studded event in sky-high heels. Attendees noshed on Southern comfort food like mac and cheese and fried chicken.
Although baby Maxwell is certainly a blessing for Simpson and Johnson, it will delay their wedding plans until the newborn is old enough to participate. And, the bride-to-be has also reportedly said that she wants to get her svelte figure back so she can fit into a traditional bridal gown that is as glamorous and feminine as she is.
