ParentsConnect offers tips for new parents

There is nothing more exciting than having a new baby in your house. But, along with all the joy of becoming a parent comes a great deal of responsibility. And, if you don't have a lot of experience with newborns, knowing how to do certain things like changing a diaper and calming a crying little one can seem overwhelming.

But, keep calm and don't worry. ParentsConnect recently published an article on how to make those first few months with your newborn a bit easier.

Fit in sleep whenever you canIt's no secret that new parents don't get the same amount of sleep as they used to before the birth of their son or daughter. But, just because you are sleep deprived doesn't mean you can't fit in a few ZZZs when your baby is sleeping and napping. Keep in mind that even if it's only for 30 minutes, that extra shut-eye can help you feel refreshed and less irritable.

Learn the swaddling technique
It's important to remember and pay attention when nurses or other medical professionals tell you how to swaddle your newborn after he or she is born. Swaddling your newborn will help calm fussy babies because it brings back memories of what it was like to be in your womb.

Keep everything close by
Any mommy or daddy with a newborn will tell you that parenting requires 100 percent of your attention 100 percent of the time. That means, you won't have a lot of free time to run around your house looking for diapers, baby wipes or burp cloths. So, in order to prevent yourself from running around your home in a frenzy, have everything close by. Store baby items organized by putting them in little baskets. Not only will this stop you from losing things, but it'll also help you neatly keep all these essential baby items in one place.
