Sesame Street Celebrates it's 40th Anniversary!

Gift_elmowagonMost of us have grown up watching Sesame Street or at least most of our kids have.  This week marks the 40th Anniversary for the award winning children's program kicked off by the celebration of Big Birds Birthday on November 4th whom is now a middle aged six year old!

By its 40th anniversary in 2009, even the U.S. government recognized Sesame Street as "the most widely viewed children's television show in the world", with twenty independent international versions and broadcasts in over 120 countries and has won over 122 emmys.

The popular television series actually celebrates its birthday on November 10th, when there will be an anniversary show featuring US First Lady Michelle Obama.

New York City has proclaimed November 10th "Sesame Street Day", and will announce a temporary street naming (at Columbus Avenue and 64th Street) in honuor of the program. Sesame Street: A Celebration of Forty Years of Life on the Street, and Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street are the latest additions to the literary.

    Do they still have those old school characters on Sesame Street like Harry Monster and purple, two-headed guy? they were too funny
